Banner Conference Important Announcement

Readers will want to know the result of the Banner Football Match. On Wednesday afternoon, an England XI played a Rest of the World XI. It was an epic game of skill and passion, as ageing legs were forced to engage in almost unprecedented physical activity. The haughty, imperialistic English were no match for the mostly Celtic, plucky opposition. Modesty forbids me to tell of my role in defence, where I confused the life out of strikers by running at them and occasionally falling over. But, I have kept you in suspense for too long The result? England 3 - Rest 5.
I will hopefully post a report of the Conference tomorrow.

Guys performance was outstanding in defence. Paulo Maldini-esque! I think I counted 4 handballs by him in the first half.

Paul Levy - scorer of the 5th goal - a screamer by all accounts

As a matter of fact, it was only two handballs and your "screamer" was a fluke.

Any word of how the little monkey fared?

I imagine he has a very humble view of any part he played!

Still...the thought of a group of ministers working off a year's worth of visitation packing is something of a frightening image...

Least said about that naughty monkey, the better!

What you forgot to tell your readers was that the day before England beat the rest of the world 9 goals to 4. I seem to remember exiled preacher was in defence on that occasion too!

Daniel,

The memory of our ignominious defeat had been blocked out by Weds. glorious victory.

Andrew,

Seeing older men developing "pastor's paunch" over the years. It a bit worrying. The shape of things to come? I hope not!

I do believe that the matches on Tuesday and Wednesday were just 2 legs of the same match. The English were just so far ahead after the first leg that, out of kindness, we took our foot off the gas for the second leg, but still did enough to win comfortably over the two legs...As for Levy's off his knee goal from 1 yard out the less said the better.
